Palmer Main Profiles Prospective Students

Corey Harrington

Palmer College of Chiropractic Main campus student Corey Harrington talks about being a former paramedic and choosing a career in the field of chiropractic.”Before I came to Palmer I worked in the health-care field as a paramedic. And, I’ve always had an interest in being involved with health care and the reason I chose chiropractic is because of its natural holistic outlook. I just really want to get involved in a profession that focuses on wellness and not necessarily on sick care.”

Why did Corey choose Palmer College of Chiropractic? “The reason I chose Palmer is because of its history and its roots as far as chiropractic is concerned. This is where chiropractic started and I just really want to be a part of all the history of chiropractic because I thought it would give me a better education.”

Corey also talks about the benefits of being involved in clubs and organizations. “I’m involved in student ACA and student ABCA. The student ACA is simply a national professional organization. I’m the current president of the chapter and I’ve been involved with that since my second trimester. Since being involved in that I’ve had the chance to go to Washington, D.C., and lobby Congress for chiropractic legislation. And student ABCA, that stands for Student American Black Chiropractic Association. I’m the current parliamentarian for our local chapter and I was recently elected for a national position of National Student Representative. So, one of the missions of the American Black Chiropractic Association is to encourage and support students of color to become doctors of chiropractic. And one of the ways the association does that is by offering scholarships to students that are currently in the D.C. program, and it’s also going out into the community and encouraging students to consider a career in chiropractic.”
