“Palmer has provided direct support to the important YMCA mission for years,” said Dennis Marchiori, D.C., Ph.D., Palmer College chancellor and CEO. “We took this opportunity to support its efforts to provide high-quality, affordable child-care services to more families in downtown Davenport. This donation is in line with the regional vision of the Quad Cities Chamber through its Q2030 regional action plan. In order to achieve the goals of Q2030, Quad-City organizations will consider how they can collaborate in new ways.”

“Collaboration is vital to serve a healthy community,” said Scott County YMCA CEO Brad Martell. “This donation from Palmer College will ensure more kids and families from the central city will continue to have access to high-quality and affordable child care. The YMCA recognizes that all families need access to these important programs and services.”

The YMCA Early Learning Center serves up to 75 children each year, and nearly 75 percent of the children receive financial assistance. The center is licensed as a level 5 QRS (Quality Rating System), which is the highest ranking from the state of Iowa. It’s also licensed by QPPS (Quality Preschool Program Standards) and is a Nature Explorer-certified playground.
