New ASG spring 2014 officers

San Jose Campus elects new Associated Student Government (ASG) officers

Palmer College’s San Jose Campus recently held elections for new student-government officers, which resulted in the following executive council for the 2014-2015 term:

Matt Fuller: President

Mr. Fuller is a Vacaville, Calif., native who graduated from the Univ. of California at Santa Barbara in 2010 (B.S., biopsychology) before initiating his chiropractic studies at Palmer’s San Jose Campus in 2012.

Prior to his election as ASG president, he served as president of the Extremities Club and one of the officers of the SJ Campus chapter of the Palmer Student Alumni Foundation (PSAF).

Mr. Fuller also is a member of the Sports Council as well as the World Congress of Chiropractic Students (WCCS), and serves as secretary for the San Jose Campus chapter of the Student American Chiropractic Association (SACA).

Peggy Chin: Vice President

Ms. Chin is a Whittier, Calif., native who graduated from the Univ. of California at Los Angeles in 2002 (B.S., applied mathematics), and enjoyed a distinguished career in the hi-tech industry (working for Hitachi Consulting, Northrop Grumman, and Yahoo) before redirecting her career path into chiropractic, and initiating her studies at Palmer’s San Jose Campus in 2013.

Prior to her election as ASG vice president, Ms. Chin served as president of the Soft Tissue Club, vice president for the San Jose Campus chapter of the Student American Chiropractic Association (SACA), and education coordinator for the Public Health Club. She also is a member of the Sports Council, as well as a student member of the American Public Health Assn.

A certified massage therapist who also has earned three levels of kinesio-taping certification, Ms. Chin is an avid sports enthusiast who enjoys cycling, hiking, basketball, and “dragon boat” canoe racing.

Katie Blundell: Community Service Director

Ms. Blundell is a Calgary, Alb., Canada native who graduated from the Univ. of Calgary (B.Kin) before initiating her studies at Palmer’s San Jose Campus in 2013.

An avid and competitive athlete who enjoys sports from yoga to running half-marathons, Ms. Blundell played collegiate soccer while attending the Univ. of Calgary, and has played on the two-time championship-winning women’s soccer team at Palmer’s San Jose, while also being an active member of the Sports Council.

Ms. Blundell, a youth-soccer coach in Canada, is a certified personal trainer who earned her Active Release Technique certification while assisting with care for athletes at the 2013 Ironman World Championships in Kona.

Kirsten Bryson: Social Director

Ms. Bryson  is a Calgary, Alb., Canada, native who graduated from the Univ. of Calgary (B.S., biological science, with a minor in psychology), before initiating her studies at Palmer’s San Jose Campus in 2012.

While attending Palmer’s San Jose Campus, Ms. Bryson has served as treasurer of the Extremities Club, and has been active with a variety of other campus clubs and student organizations, including the San Jose Campus chapter of the World Congress of Chiropractic Students (WCCS), the Gonstead Club, and the Sports Council. Ms. Bryson also plays on the two-time champion San Jose Campus women’s soccer team.

Prior to enrolling at Palmer’s San Jose Campus, Ms. Bryson worked as a fitness consultant, volunteered at a hospital, and traveled to Ghana, Africa, where she volunteered at a school and orphanage.

Kendra Glendenning: Treasurer

Ms. Glendenning is a Clovis, Calif., native who graduated from the Univ. of Nevada at Las Vegas (B.S., kinesiology), where she received an athletic scholarship to play on the women’s volleyball team, before initiating her chiropractic studies at Palmer’s San Jose Campus in 2013.

She has served as student-government representative for her class, is a member of several campus clubs and student organizations, including: the Extremities Club, the Gonstead Club, the Soft Tissue Club, the Sports Council, and the volleyball club.

Michael Oldfield: Athletic Director

Mr. Oldfield is a Calgary, Alb., native who attended the Univ. of British Columbia (Okanagan Campus) in Kelowna, B.C, before initiating his chiropractic studies at Palmer’s San Jose Campus in Oct., 2012.

Certified in Active Release Technique (ART), Mr. Oldfield is a member of the San Jose Sports Council, and was a member of the San Jose Campus team that assisted with providing care for athletes competing in the 2013 World Ironman Championship in Kona, Hawaii.

A two-time member of the Palmer Pride ice hockey team at Palmer’s San Jose Campus, Mr. Oldfield also is active in various student clubs, including the Extremities Club and the Soft Tissue Club.

Anne-Isabelle Reme: Secretary

Ms. Reme is a Chicago, Ill., native who graduated from the Univ. of Missouri (Bachelor of Health Sciences), before initiating her chiropractic studies at Palmer’s San Jose Campus in Oct., 2012.

An active Sports Council member since her first quarter, Ms. Reme is now an executive officer, serving as secretary/treasurer. She has been active in the San Jose Campus Dance Club, and continues to participate in the Soft Tissue Club, the Motion Palpation Club, and Extremities Club.

Ms. Reme has earned Dean’s List honors at Palmer’s San Jose Campus, where she also is an active member of the Student chapter of the American Chiropractic Association (SACA).
